Cricket attracts movie goers

As cricket World Cup is around the corner, India has found a new way of cheering and boosting its cricket team’s spirit by using its country’s another big obsession – Bollywood by lining up new releases in relation to cricket.

As the world cup gets into its first week, UTV will release 'Hattrick', which stars Kunal Kapoor, Rimi Sen, Nana Patekar, Danny Denzongpa and Paresh Rawal. Hattrick is a "lighthearted film that centres around cricket,”. Meanwhile other movies such as 'Mirabai not out' and 'Salaam India' are near completion.

Director Milan Luthria confesses that the inspiration for Hattrick came from the up coming event of World Cup cricket "it would be nice to have a film at the time of the cricket world cup."
While all that maybe, other major Bollywood stars are also contributing with their bit of cheering for the Indian cricket team, with Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra participating in a 'farewell' function for the Indian team only just recently.
